The Divine Protection: Angels vs Devils
Posted: 15th Jul 2023
When we open the front door to look outside, we usually have an idea of what the day will be like. Based on the weather or how we are feeling, we predict whether it will be a good or bad day. However, there is one thing we should do in that precise moment to start the day off right.
The Prophet (s.a.w) gave us a beautiful remembrance to begin our day as we step outside our home. As you are about to venture into the world, the two angels assigned to protect you draw near, and at that moment, you should say:
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ لاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ
“In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah; there is no might and no power but in Allah”
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: When a man goes out of his house and says: “In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah; there is no might and no power but in Allah,” the following will be said to him at that time: “You are guided, defended and protected.” The devils will go far from him and another devil will say: How can you deal with a man who has been guided, defended and protected?
The Prophet (s.a.w) said, "When you say those words as you exit your home and enter the world outside, those angels respond to you.
As you say Bismillahi, they say Hudeeta, meaning 'in the name of Allah, you've been guided.'
And when you say Tawakkaltu 'ala Allah, meaning 'I've put my full trust in Allah,' they say WaKufeeta, meaning 'you've been defended against anyone that is going to try to harm you.'
And when you say La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah, meaning 'there is no power or might except which belongs to Allah,' they say Wuqeeta, meaning 'you've been protected from all harm for the day.'
At this point, the two devils that arrive to attack, ask one another, 'what can we do with a person who's been guided, defended, and protected?' They know they have been rendered powerless and so they abandon you for the rest of the day."
May Allah (s.w.t.) make it a habit for us to recite this dua every day until the day we return to Him. Ameen!
With these divine affirmations, step out into the world, your heart filled with gratitude and serenity. As you walk along the bustling streets, you shall notice a subtle shift in the atmosphere. It's as if negative energies and temptations are repelled by the invisible shield bestowed upon you by the angels.
So, each morning, remember to recite the beautiful dua our beloved Prohet Muhammad (s.a.w) taught us and step out fortified by the knowledge that the angels walk beside you, and the devils have been rendered powerless in the face of your unwavering connection with Allah.
